LIU Xiaofeng

LIU Xiaofeng is engaged in patent prosecution and patent litigation including a broad range of fields and technical areas, including the electrical and mechanical areas. He drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in a variety of technical fields, involving the semiconductor devices and manufacturing approaches, photoelectric printing and imaging apparatus, mechanical-electrical integration, casting, metallurgy, and household appliances.
He also provides legal services regarding patent search, opinions on patentability, re-examination and invalidation, infringement analysis, administrative proceedings for enforcement, assignment of patents/trademark, licensing, negotiation for settlement, commercialization of intellectual property, drafting contracts/agreement, counseling on corporate IPR strategy and process and other matters related to intellectual property right.
Working and education experience:
LIU Xiaofeng joined China Science Patent & Trademark Agent Ltd.(CSPTAL) in 1996. Before joining CSPTAL, he worked as an engineer for three years in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and he was an Patent Attorney in 1996.
Mr. Liu obtained a bachelor degree in Physics from Central Nationality University in 1990 and an M. S. from Beijing Polytechnic University in 1993, and received professional training in a law firm in the US in 1999. From 2002 to 2005 , Mr. Liu finished his study of the civil and commercial law in Law School of Peking University. Mr. Liu is a member of AIPPI.

CHENG Jinshan

Mr. Cheng is a partner of this firm heading the firm's Chemistry / Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology Department and responsible for the professional training of the firm¡¯s new recruits.

With about 10 years of experience in patent law, Mr. Cheng has been one of the most experienced foreign-related Patent attorneys in the fields of Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Organic Chemistry in China. He concentrates his practice in patent prosecution, counseling, litigation and related issues. He has had extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent application, patent re-examination, appeal and invalidation proceedings, and infringement and administrative lawsuits before the court, and counseling on validity, patentability, infringement and enforcement matters in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and medical, chemical and health care sciences. His expertise further extends to administrative procedures related to pharmaceuticals and agricultural products.

Mr. Cheng obtained his B.S. degree in Pharmaceutical Science from School of Life Sciences and Technology, China Pharmaceutical University in 1991, M.S. degree in Biotechnology from Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and diploma in Law from China University of Politics and Law, respectively. He began his career in intellectual property protection in 1996 with 3 years¡¯ experience in scientific research on Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology and qualified as a patent attorney in 1998 and IP Judicial Appraiser in 2004. He had practiced in IP law in LIU SHEN & ASSOCIATES for 3 years and in CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office for about 3 years before joining this firm.

Mr. Cheng is a member of AIPPI, National Expert Pool of IP Strategy, Invention Patent Committee of All-China Patent Attorney Association, and China Intellectual Property Society. He is also the author of a number of articles on intellectual property practice including:
1. ¡°Special Issues for Drafting Specification for Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical invention¡± (China Patent Agency, 2002);
2. ¡°How to comprehend Double Patent in China¡± (Journal of the Japanese Group of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, 2003);

ZHANG Liyan

Ms. Zhang obtained a B. E. from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Harbin University of Science and Technology in 1982 and an M. E. from the graduate school of Kobe University (Japan) in 1992. She has engaged in scientific research in the Institute for the Control of Agrochemical, Ministry of Agriculture, and worked on the development of optical measurement and optical and mechanical design in a company in Japan. She was qualified as a patent attorney in 2000. Ms. Zhang is a member of AIPPI.
