Zhang Liyan graduated from Harbin University of Science and Technology in July 1982, majoring in precise mechanics. Then she did research on agrochemical analytical instrument. She also worked on management of research projects. In March 1992, she graduated from the Graduate School of Kobe University with her master degree in fine instruments and mechanical engineering. Then she was with Omron Corporation working on R&D of opto-electronic sensors, until she joined China Science in 1996.
She was qualified as a patent attorney in 2000. She is now the Chairwoman of Board and the President. She is concurrently the Chief Representative of the Japan Office of China Science. She holds the concurrent titles of Councilor on patent litigations at Japanese Invention Association, part-time professor at Kanazawa Technology University of Japan, lecture of Japanese IP Association, and part-time lecturer at Kibi International University of Japan.
